My Favorite YouTubers

In the beginning….

So I have not always been so into YouTube like I am now. That may have something to do with having had cable before and since moving in with my husband I have not had cable UGHHHHHH. Well since that is not really as tragic as I thought it was when the transition occurred, I had to learn how to get used to not watching shows as soon as they air. That might not be a real problem to many (it is not) but it was to me, OKAY!! I had/have favorite tv shows and I need to be up to date with them or life is not in order and if you don’t understand that well…..WELL….WELL then I guess I have no choice but to be okay with that and I am okay with that.

Since I had to get used to only using the Kid’s laptop(soon after a smart tv but still no cable) for entertainment, I started to look for ways to watch my shows. Also, since I left my job a while ago, I have so much more time to fill up. I am also lazy soooo aside abusing our Netflix account, I started to do what many have done before: browse through the YouTube. There is sooooo much there. I was never too into YouTube. I had watched some videos on cute puppies playing together and very short videos that had to do with animals in the wild or funny things little kids do. It was only after I moved in The Kid that I started to look through the vastness that is YouTube.

Youtube Channel Favs

So I guess it seems like my list will be all over the place and I don’t think I can actually number them from 10th favorite to first favorite. This is annoying to me that I can not decide and probably anyone else that is anal about things like this. This all depends on my mood, so I can not really say which I like more or the best, definitely.

MAKEUP LOVER HERE!!!!!!!!

So my love for makeup goes way back to when I was about 5 years old and received a pink cream lip and cheek Tinkerbell product. I didn’t get to wear it out nor was it a real lipstick  but it was so awesome to me. By junior high, I had developed an obsession with lip gloss. I bought a clear, cute little gloss with a squeeze tube and sponge tip applicator. It went with me everywhere, everyday. Thus my lip product collection started to grow. HA in my head when I was typing out that last sentence, it came out in a Rita Repulsa voice. The Rita from the original Power Rangers show…….classic.

Glam Life Guru

So now I love to watch makeup videos on Youtube and one the channels is that of Tati. Her videos are high quality content which for a lot of makeup channels is not always possible to find. For the most part she is very well-organized. Tati also puts out a new video every Monday through Friday which is more than what a lot of other channels do. She is also very informative and thorough in her makeup reviews. At times she can be a bit arrogant-like but I think it is because she has been for so long and knows what she likes. She is also very dramatic at times. Sometimes more than others. I  still enjoy watching her videos.

Another channel I also love watching is emilynoel83. She is very down to earth and doesn’t care if real life spills into her videos. I don’t mean in an a sloppy, unprofessional way but more of “nothing in life is perfect so let’s go with it” and that makes her well-informed videos all the better. She also tries by any means necessary to make a product work for her will let her viewers know about it. In the same sense, Jessica Braun from JAMbeauty89 also lets the viewers know when she has found any use for a particular product and is not about product waste. She is a teacher and it is apparent in her quality of videos. The way she doesn’t want to just review makeup upon first impression but after a few weeks of really trying out the product does she feel that she can make any sort of judgement. Sometimes she can come off as a bit snobby or judgey but she is pleasant for the most part. That is a refreshing point of view. It is a better way to get an accurate read on a product.

My last two makeup favs are Rachhloves and Kathleenlights. Both are very cheery and both have cute, animated personalities. Rachhloves is a Canadian Youtuber. She has a set schedule for her makeup channel. She also has a vlog channel that I must admit, I don’t watch because I am not in the habit of specifically going to another channel just for vlogs. They may be entertaining but I am not into the two separate channels because sometimes they make them soooo apparent in their differences that it turns me off. Nothing personal to Rachhloves (nor that it would matter to any Youtuber what I think anyway) but not my cup of tea. Anyway, I find her actual personality refreshing and light. I love the makeup looks that she creates and her abilities in putting on makeup. She does neutral looks as well as dramatic and colorful. I love her creativity. Her makeup always looks so pretty. She tries a lot of new products and keeps it interesting on her channel.

Keep me where the light is….

Kathleenlights also does awesome makeup looks. I love her little accent. She is Hispanic and happens to have a slight accent. It is cute especially because of her bubbly personality. She is very funny and loves graphic tees especially of her favorite tv shows, as do I. We have more in common such as our love for makeup, graphic tees, The Office and other shows. She also seems very genuine. In fact, all the ladies that I love to watch seem very genuine in their own right and that is one of the reasons I love to watch them. Kathleen also has a nail polish line, KL Polish. To me, it is a bit more on the pricey side but the colors look beautiful and I am inspired that she has branched out into having her own company. Though it is cool that Youtubers have their own businesses but I am glad that it isn’t another makeup company. Not to say that is me judging a makeup company but a nail polish line is something different. It is new and fresh for a beauty guru. That also makes me like her. It makes her standout from the rest.

Cruelty-free is our way to be

The last makeup channel I watch (I promise no more makeup talk) is Andrea Matillano. My favorite thing about her, other than having beautifully done videos, is that she is a cruelty-free beauty vlogger. I decided to go cruelty-free a while back. Just because I love makeup does not mean that the animals have to suffer for it. i think it is wrong that animals are being tested and so does Andrea. She tests a lot of products as well and tries to use up her makeup. I love how she goes about her review process. She takes her time and won’t rush the process for views but rather takes her time to be informative. Andrea wants to get the right amount of time to play with products in order to come to her own proper conclusion. She partners up with different brands and makes me want to try them. OKAY..NO MORE MAKEUP!!

News Made Interesting?? NO!!….Could It  Be??

If it wasn’t all too clear, I am not a big fan of watching the news. Most of the time I don’t know whom to believe. There seems to be a lot of bias when there should be none in journalism. Some news outlets should not be called journalism. I took a journalism class in H.S and my teacher was all about the basics of journalism: the who, what, where and when? Another basic is objectivity. I have been a person that loves getting all the facts and drawing as much of an unbiased opinion as possible. I would prefer that my news sources would refrain from using their opinions in place of facts. One of my favorite Youtubers is Philip DeFranco. He covers news stories in his videos. After giving all the facts of the story he then sometimes gives his opinions and asks what his audience thinks. He likes to have a discussion in the comment section. Phil doesn’t handle the whole channel himself. He works with a team to give out great content and to make sure of the validity in all that he puts out in his videos. Though, I may not always agree with him, I do appreciate what he and his team does.

Fast Food Reviews on Youtube

Though I love great quality food, I do dabble in fast food on the rare occasion. I also love to watch videos about food. A fast food reveiwer that has a channel is TheReportoftheweek. He has an interesting simple charm about him. I have made a post about it already. TheReportofhteweek does his reviews in either his car in the parking lot of where he gets his food or where ever he stays. He wears suits and ties. He says he gets a lot of his suits from thrift shops because he likes older styles over the modern suits of today. Another thing that makes him stand out is that he doesn’t edit his videos. You can tell by the way he sometimes starts his intro (which he does himself) off camera right after he turns on the camera. Same story for his outro. His no-tricks or filters concept is very refreshing considering how a lot of videos don’t seem too genuine more like looking for ways to get more views. Lots of clickbait, fancy lighting and flashy techniques that seem more like what is being displayed everyday on Youtube. Reportoftheweek is not that and I don’t mean it in a bad way. I mean that in a very good way. He also has a dry sense of humor that you can tell his fans appreciate. Even if you don’t agree with him on his reviews, he does have an interesting way of rating his meals.

Freed From The Shackles Of Buzzfeed

Once tied to the beast called Buzzfeed, Safiya Nygaard was apart of a group called Ladylike. Now don’t get me wrong, there are some segments of Buzzfeed that I like such as Worth It, Worth It: Lifestyle and Buzzfeed Unsolved. There are a few great personalities that I really enjoy such as Quinta, Ned Fulmer and the Worth it Guys. I am just not a fan of Buzzfeed as a whole. I am not into how they take credit for a lot of videos done by other content creators done to the details, the tight hold they have on their creators as well as how there is only seemingly one voice throughout the company. One view and that for me is a turnoff. If you like them, by all means, continue to support, it is okay with me. Anyway, Safiya used to work for Buzzfeed as a part of a group called Ladylike and she came up with a lot of their content. I loved when she was apart of it. When she left, however, I didn’t feel the same spark from Ladylike and stopped watching them as often. I started to watch Saf’s videos and loved the way that she would incorporate knowledge in entertaining content. She has done a video on chokers and their history. I also love how she researches particular decades and recreates looks from that time. She is funny and has great chemistry with her filming buddy, Tyler. They should have great chemistry because they are dating but sometimes that does not always translate well into a work relationship. It works for them. Her channel is not just about clothing, she basically tries a lot of websites and life hacks. Safiya also started several types of viral video challenges relating to makeup and clothing shopping. I also like the fact that she wears a lot of black clothing and makeup like myself.

Cartoons are not just for kids and comics are not nerdy

I love me a good cartoon, a good animation. I loved reading the “funnies” in the paper. Loved reading comics. I loved watching cartoons on tv. I’ve always heard that cartoons were for kids. However, when I became an….ughh…”adult” I never stopped reading comics or watching cartoons. I didn’t get, nor do I still get, why there would be any sort of stigma attached to these awesome activities. I think that is why I like TheOdd1sout. It is an animated channel on, you guessed it, Youtube. DING DING. He is very funny and creative. TheOdd1sout tells stories in a charismatic way with great animation. Everything works well together. The Kid and I look forward to new videos because I believe we have binge-watching most, if not all, of his older videos. The only downside to this channel is that there is a new video maybe once a month or every two months. I would rather have quality over quantity and this channel is a great example of that. Anyone checking out the channel won’t be disappointed.

Hot Wings are an Interviewers’ Friend

So who doesn’t love wings? If made right, they can be delicious. Who doesn’t love hot sauce/ spicy food? Who doesn’t love seeing people get overwhelmed with heat? So Hot Ones on the Youtube channel First We Feast, is an interview show that combines questions with a hot wings challenge. This takes the concept of interviewing and puts it on a different level than most. The host, Sean Evans, does a great job with the questions and he seems to have a stomach of steel. Some of the guests try to act tough only to be shown up by the heat of the wings. It is so satisfying to watch when they squirm. I guess that doesn’t sound too Christian but I think God would let that slide. I am sure he has a great sense of humor considering that there are peppers that hot in the world. The show also has come out with their own hot sauces and they get sold out pretty quickly. I have never been able to get a hold of one. It is a great show.

Honorary Mentions Go To:

I would love to mention that there are a couple of channels that give me good feelings from time to time.  One of them makes me feel magical… mythical even. Good Mythical Morning is a feel good, almost radio-like show. The hosts, Rhett and Link are hysterical together. They test things such as if you can pickle things, which are the hottest snacks and putting weird liquids through a water filter. All for the name of science, I am sure. They are very entertaining and I find myself watching a few videos in a row sometimes.

Another honorable channel mention is Gabbie Hanna, formerly known as The Gabbie show. She has had interesting content. She is an enjoyable personality that has many talents. I love that she tries a lot of things that she enjoys to see if she can do them well. I think that is admirable because it invites rejection, criticism and hatred from her vast audience. She also shares her mental health issues with her audience. It helps to understand her more and I suppose makes her relatable to people that don’t share her lifestyle. She happens to be a funny storyteller.

Creepy Crawly

I love me a good creepy story. I stumbled upon a couple of channels that tickle that particular fancy. One of them is Mr. Nightmare and the other is Let’s Read. Both channels have great stories that are mostly from Reddit and others are from submissions to their channels. They both have great voices for story telling and charm. I love when people read (well) out the stories. It lets me relax while listening to other people’s creepy, annoying and sometimes funny (in my own sick sense of humor that I have been told I have) stories. It is entertaining and I can empathize, even sympathize, with some of the stories. I am not completely heartless or cold.

Do Talk Show channels Count??

They may not be channels creating content  specifically for Youtube but rather clips available for Youtube. They are awesome to watch especially considering that I don’t have cable to watch them regularly. This way I can. I watch two hosts, Jimmy Fallon and James Corden. Both are funny and are great tv personalities. Both late night hosts love to sing and have interesting segments with their guests. Jimmy plays lots of games with his guests, some of which are known games like Pictionary and others are made up like (a personal favorite of mine) Box of Lies. It is a fun game. James Corden has an entertaining segment that is Carpool Karaoke with singers. One of the most epic Carpool Karaoke moments was with Paul McCartney. Very few people have not heard of The Beatles so you could imagine (if you have not yet seen the video) the response of the people that witnessed it in person. Both shows bring the entertainment factor.

All There Is

I think those are all my Youtube favs, including some honorary mentions. It is not to say that there aren’t other channels that I enjoy, such as Bright Side. I just learned of this great channel that has all kinds of riddles and knowledge based videos. It is, however, new to me so I don’t know if I could officially call it a favorite just yet but I don’t doubt it could be in the near future. For the most part, they (the channels() are free of foul language which may not be a popular criteria for a lot of people. I, however, hear too much foul language all around me and it is unpleasant. The Let’s Read, Mr. Nightmare, Hot Ones and Philip DeFranco are the ones with the most but not much considering what the channels are about. Aside from that, these channels have great content. If you want something to watch while you wait to go to work or an appointment, check them out.

Let me know….

Feel free to leave a comment with your suggestions of entertaining Youtube channels. Also, if you don’t like the channels, let me know. Have a great read and good day.

Hey, I just wanted to let you in on a bit of stuff. I am married and call my husband The Kid. Edit: I am separated from The Kid. It is bumpy but that is life. I am still dealing with it. Everyday is a new day and I can only take it day by day.
For as long as I remember, I have had a lot of passions and different ways of expressing myself. I love helping people and having fun. I hope to be able to bring all my passions together here and share them with others. I hope whomever reads this can benefit from it in some way. Have a blessed day.
