PORK BELLY SANDWICH REVIEW!!!!!
So The Kid and I watch a YouTube channel called ReportoftheWeek and he reviews fast food restaurants. He is pretty funny and we like the reviews he gives. Well, one of the more recent videos was for Arby’s Pork Belly sandwich. Though he said it was greasy, he also said it tasted good.It looked good so I decided I needed to try it and review it myself. So we did.
Arby’s has the meats…..
I had not been to Arby’s in a long time, I am talking years. I wasn’t ever a fan of there sandwiches but I loved their curly fries. Plus, I am not supposed to to eat beef or much pork (besides bacon) due to digestive issues so I like to limit my beef intake to really awesome and quality meat. Anyway, we went to the closest one in Time Square. I liked the way it looked, modern and clean. It was pleasant to order and seat down there to eat. Sometimes fast food places are gross with the renovating that has been going on with different chains, they are improving.
THe Best bacon is pork belly
So obviously I ordered the Smokehouse Pork Belly sandwich combo while The Kid ordered the Smoke Mountain sandwich (which has pork belly in it) combo with the Orange Cream shake. We got our meal and sat down.
I bit into the pork belly sandwich and was instantly happy with my choice. All the ingredients went together perfectly. The bread was soft and a compliment to the pork belly which was so so so so tender. Man, it was like butter that it melts in your mouth. The sandwich reminds me of a pork bun only Americanized. I don’t mind it at all rather I am pleased with it. It is very rich with the cheddar cheese and mayo that was on the sandwich but balanced with the BBQ sauce and crispy onions. It is a treat in itself. The pork belly is thick. The sandwich actually looked better than I had seen in the review videos which just has to do with each individual Arby’s restaurant and not fault of the chain itself. The only fault I found with my sandwich was the amount of the BBQ on one side of it, after awhile it became too salty with all the ingredients melding together. If they were to limit the amount of BBQ then I think it would be perfect. It is greasy but that is to be expected with pork belly.
The Rest of the Meal….
Well their curly fries are always good. They were hot and crispy on the outside while soft on the inside. Not salty which was perfect because it balanced the amount of salt from the rest of the meal. The Smoke Mountain was more like the regular sandwiches that Arby’s is known for with sliced meat but a pork belly surprise. It is as though the sandwich called for it for moisture and richness along with crispy onion for a oniony salty treat. The sandwich was dressed up. If you want more of a classic taste you would get this sandwich but if you want a straight up decadently rich sandwich then I suggest going for the Smoke House Pork Belly sandwich which I loved. If you need a bit of citrus-y sweet beverage to refresh your palette then get the Orange Cream shake. It is lovely, just delightfully tart and sweet but not too sweet. The Orange Cream Shake helped cut the richness of the meal. It really brought it full circle. Arby’s provided a pleasant dining experience from the meal to the atmosphere and the wonderful staff working that night.
