Today I went to get my nails done thanks to my mom
So today my mom asked if I wanted to get my nails manicured with her, she was going to treat me. Obviously, I said yes because why not? It is free, you get a hand massage and someone other than me would paint my nails and get it done better than I ever could. I rarely paint my nails let alone go to the nail salon to get it done. I am by no means a girly girl but it does feel nice to have things done like manicures, pedicures and getting your hair done. So when I can treat myself or someone treats me to it, every so often, I take the chance. It is good to let yourself get pampered. Sometimes, especially after a long week…..month…year, it feels so good to have a little relaxation.
Unless……
It isn’t that relaxing….We went to a place we have been going to for years. No issues there normally and everything goes smoothly. If it is crowded, we waited for our turn. It was familiar. My mother and I liked going there. The services provided were doing well. Always accommodating to their customers and never rude.
So we went to the new location, it was my first time there. I was looking forward to going after a long week, I hadn’t been sleeping well and kept thinking about what to blog about. I thought that this would be a food distraction. We got there about 2:00 pm and all the four manicure tables were occupied. There were more workers than space to take care of the clients that were there. After we got there, a few more people got there and there were already one or two ladies waiting to be helped. My mother and I went to select our nail polish colors. I was looking for a dark blue or maybe a bright green but they didn’t have as many colors as before. We were disappointed, I ended up choosing a dark purple and my mom a dark pink. Not that big of deal, I suppose. Then someone came over and that time my mom wasn’t ready, she hadn’t selected her color yet. The manicurist led me to a pedicure chair and I was shocked. We were not in a hurry nor were we complaining about the wait so I don’t know why they would choose an uncomfortable place for a customer but I didn’t want to be difficult and thought I could just go with the flow.
It was SSOOOO uncomfortable
I wish I could have just told them I would wait. That I don’t like it and my body is already sore from going crazy at the gym yesterday but I didn’t. I just wanted to get through with this as fast as possible since I couldn’t relax. Then the manicurist was rough when snipping at my cuticles, more like she yank at them. I had my poker face up until almost the very end but I couldn’t last. My smile faded and I was not happy. Finally I was done and went to dry my nails next to someone that decided a boring, annoying phone call just had to be made while ruining her wet nails and acting like digging in her bag wasn’t the cause of it. Yup, she would be the one that I would have to seat next to. We all know how annoying that can be, when you are relaxing and someone has to be obnoxious. They are on their phones having a conversations that should be private or not had for lack of interest or coherence.
I was thrilled when phone lady left the space and my mom moved over to sit next to me. We had a good conversation for the rest the drying period. My nails did end up looking nice which was the reason for going. It was nice to have someone else do that for me. It is not something do I perfectly and I am grateful to have done for me. Ha, now to remove the nail polish when they chip ughhh. I am not good about that.
Comfort is important…..
I think for the businesses and anyone that provides a service should try to make the customer comfortable. They are paying for something that is hopefully done right but also for the experience and that is what makes people repeat customers. Unless someone asks for faster service or gets snippy about how you are performing the service, don’t assume they want the most uncomfortable seat, spot or half the amount advertised without any evidence of dissatisfaction. Also, take this advice for everyday life, be considerate to others that have to be in your circle for whatever reason. Well, thank you for reading and have a nice day.
